WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, FreedomWorks is proud to kick off our celebration of National School Choice Week (NSCW). With schools across the country shuttered and many parents left without other options, the need for better school choice legislation has become more pressing than ever during the COVID-19 pandemic. Throughout this week, FreedomWorks will be highlighting different facets of school choice and sharing information about why expanding school choice is the best way to move our education system forward.
Laura Zorc, FreedomWorks Senior Advisor of Education Policy Reform and Parent Led Advocacy, commented:
“National School Choice Week is a critical celebration of the movement to expand education opportunities for students across the country. As a mother of four uniquely different children, I know that education is not and never should be a one-size-fits-all experience. For far too long, that is exactly how politicians have treated it.
“It is our hope here at FreedomWorks that throughout this week, we can raise awareness about the school choice movement and amplify the call of millions of American families to wrest power away from the government and put it back into the hands of the people. If education is about choosing the best possible path for our kids, it should be in the hands of parents and students, not politicians.”
